Michelle Meier
Chair
Michelle Meier serves as the Computer Science and CTE-IS consultant for the Iowa Department of Education. She has more than 20 years of education experience as a middle and high school teacher librarian, media literacy teacher, and instructional technology and computer science coach, consultant, and professional learning provider. Michelle is a lead for the Iowa CS Advisory Group, Iowa ECEP group, is an active member of CSTA Iowa, and she is a CSTA Equity Fellow and serves on the CSTA Policy Committee.
Corey Rogers

Corey Rogers is a Computer Science & Digital Learning Consultant at Grant Wood Area Education Agency in Southeast Iowa. Corey has 20+ years experience in education as a middle school STEM & Computer Science Teacher, Media Specialist, and School Improvement Consultant. She is passionate about bringing Computer Science to all students in Iowa. She serves as past president of the CSTA Iowa Chapter and is a member of the CSTA Standards Revision Writing Team, CSTA Emeritus Chapter Leaders Committee, Iowa ECEP Leadership team, and the Southeast Iowa STEM Advisory Board. Ben Schafer

Ben Schafer’s career began as a middle school math and science teacher, during which he also developed educational multimedia software. He holds both an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Minnesota.
Ben is currently a Professor of Computer Science and the Program Coordinator for the CS Education program at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls where he was the 2024 recipient of the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence. He has contributed to various CS advisory panels and working groups for the state of Iowa, served on theLEGO Educational Advisory Panel, and has taught 1000s of educators across Iowa through his work with Code.org and CSEd@UNI, as well as globally via an online MOOC preparing teachers to use Scratch.
An active member of both CSTA and ACM SIGCSE, Ben has held leadership roles and presented at their annual conferences. Recently, he received two NSF:CSForAll:RPP awards. As a passionate and award-winning educator, Ben firmly believes that every student can learn computer science and that every educator has the potential to
enhance their teaching.
